Man 'Significantly Bruised' 4-Year-old Daughter During Spanking, Police Say

The Creve Coeur man was charged with child abuse last week.

A man faces criminal charges after Creve Coeur Police said he significantly bruised his 4-year-old daughter when he spanked her Sept. 9. Azael Loza-Gonzalez, 30, of the 12400 block of Lighthouse Way in Creve Coeur, was charged Thursday with abusing a child, a class C felony. Creve Coeur Police said in the probable cause statement that Loza-Gonzalez chose to punish his 4-year-old daughter “by striking her with excessive force, causing significant bruising. The punishment was cruel and inhuman.” Loza-Gonzalez is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $50,000 cash-only bond.
