Creve Coeur Police: Extra Patrols At Movie Theaters After Colorado Shootings

AMC, the national theater chain with 2 Creve Coeur locations, is responding to concerns over security following a shooting spree in Colorado that left at least 12 dead.

AMC Theaters, which operates two theaters in Creve Coeur among more than 5,000 across the country, said in a statement Friday that it was "actively  working with local law enforcement in communities throughout the nation and under the circumstances we are reaching out to all of our theatres to review our safety and security procedures." The statement comes on the heels of a deadly evening of gun violence at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado that left 12 dead and dozens wounded at a midnight screening of the premier of "The Dark Knight". Twilight Fever Hits Thornhill Library Branch

The Thornhill Branch of the St. Louis County Library will host a 'Twilight' Party to celebrate 'Breaking Dawn,' the newest installment in the popular series.

USA Today reported that before the Breaking Dawn premier in Los Angeles this week, fans camped out for days hoping to get a glimpse of Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner as they headed down the red carpet. The movie opens Friday in St. Louis and some area theaters are already selling tickets in advance — including AMC Theaters Esquire 7, Chesterfield 14 with IMAX and West Olive 16. Wednesday, the St. Louis Post Dispatch announced a contest in which one lucky fan can win a prize package that consists of Breaking Dawn movie passes, DVDs of the first three movies, the new soundtrack, a tote bag and more. Even the Thornhill …

OP-ED: Science, God and Presidential Politics

The Executive Producer of a film opening November 4 in Creve Coeur makes his argument for humility.

Science and God are again front and center in presidential politics.  GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry launched the discussion by responding to a boy's question about the age of the earth. He said, "You know what, I don't have any idea." He told the young man that evolution is "a theory that's out there" but that's "got some gaps in it." GOP candidate Jon Huntsman saw this as an opportunity and responded to Gov. Perry's comments, "To be clear, I believe in evolution and trust scientists. Call me crazy." He accused Gov. Perry of holding an "anti-science" position which would turn off voters, stressing that Republicans would find themselves "on the wrong side of science." Why does it matter, especially for Republicans? Because …
