With the winter sports season quickly approaching, fans are running out of chances to make sure their favorite fall student-athletes get a shot at being our MVP Athlete of the Week.
Once again the time has come for Patch readers to nominate their favorite Ladue-Frontenac-Olivette area student-athlete for the Patch MVP of the Week award. We've gotten some great suggestions in the past, and we're looking for more, in what could be the final week of the fall sports season. Many of the fall sports have completed their seasons, with the field hockey and cross country state championships last weekend. That just leaves football and soccer left, before everything goes indoors for basketball, wrestling, and all the other winter sports seasons. Bushman and the Parkway Central football team get back on the field Friday when they travel to district-rival Parkway West.
Congratulations to Jake Bushman, who was named this week's Patch Athlete of the Week. Bushman, a senior running back on the Parkway Central High School football team, turned up big in Parkway Central's 49-7 shalacking of Seckman by scoring three touchdowns. Bushman needed just six touches to amass 18 points — he had five rushes for 58 yards and two scores and one reception that went for a 55-yard touchdown. Bushman narrowly eaked out Connor Harrison of De Smet. Bushman also received more votes than Parkway North's Roosevelt Abram and the entire Parkway South defensive squad.
