Rams finish at 21-6. Shooters go cold down the stretch against the Red Devils.
This just seemed like the year the stars were all lined up right for the Ladue High basketball team. The team got hot early; took third-place in the MICDS holiday festival and shocked the daylights out of CBC, winning the Cadets own tournament with a 60-58 win over the host team. The team finally got a new hardwood floor and won all five regular home games. With a 21-5 record on the line in the district championship game, the Rams had visions of performing later in the month at Mizzou Arena. (Show Me Showdown state championships). On Wednesday, it was senior Austin DaGue who led the way for Ladue, with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots in a 54-38 win over St. Charles. The Rams were playing without junior forward Andrew Maddock, who suffered a knee injury at a team practice on Sunday. Head coach Chad Anderson said he wasn't sure how bad the injury was, but that he thought it was safer to hold Maddock out of Wednesday's game until the 6'7 forward could be examined by a doctor. Last night it was Chili Night at Ladue. That assured a nice sized crowd would witness the game with the Jennings Warriors. Chad Anderson’s Rams were jacked for the occasion. While district families were wrapping up their hot chili and hamburgers and cold drinks, the Rams were knocking the stuffings out of the visiting Warriors. Junior Austin DaGue, had a strong game, dominating the boards on both ends of the floor with his rebounding prowess and his game-high 15 points and the Rams sealed up a 62-51 Suburban East victory.
