A new searchable database identifies how schools perform on cost, graduation and loan defaults.
President Barack Obama used part of his State of The Union address Tuesday to promote the release of an education scorecard, a tool he said "parents and students can use to compare schools based on a simple criteria: where you can get the most bang for your educational buck." The College Scorecard was released Wednesday. It does not rank schools in ways done by The Princeton Review or U.S. News & World Report. It does provide information about cost, the gradaution rate, loan default, and median borrowing. In the future it will also include average earnings for graduates who attended school using federal loan dollars. What does it say about Missouri Baptist University in Creve Coeur? COST Net cost is $21,254 per year (after grants & …

In his 2013 State of the Union Address Tuesday, President Barack Obama touched on immigration policy, gun control and the economy, among other national issues. In terms of infrastructure, he proposed a "Fix it First" plan that may affect Creve Coeur.
President Barack Obama proposed Tuesday night what he called a "Fix It First" program to address the nation's crumbling infrastructure—like roads and bridges—in an effort to improve citizens' quality of life and bring jobs to the United States. "I propose a 'Fix-It-First' program to put people to work as soon as possible on our most urgent repairs, like the nearly 70,000 structurally deficient bridges across the country," he said during the State of the Union Address. "And to make sure taxpayers don’t shoulder the whole burden, I’m also proposing a Partnership to Rebuild America that attracts private capital to upgrade what our businesses need most—modern ports to move goods; modern pipelines to withstand a storm; modern schools worthy of …

The Akin campaign is rallying supporters by highlighting actor Jamie Foxx's weekend comments about President Obama.
It is coming almost a month after voters went to the polls and elected Missouri U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill to a second term over U.S. Rep. Todd Akin, but actor Jamie Foxx has become something of a campaign talking point in the race. His comments at the Soul Train Awards referring to President Barack Obama as "our lord and savior" over the weekend are the subject of a mass email Akin's campaign sent Thursday to subscribers following his just-completed Senate campaign: Article after article has been written about a no-name filmmaker who produced a short video mocking Islam. How much do you think will be written about an Oscar winning Hollywood star mocking Christianity. Friends, I may have lost the Senate race, but I do not plan to stop …

The Chesterfield Republican spoke with Patch on Election night in Creve Coeur.
As election returns came in on Tuesday night, political campaigns from across the state held watch parties around St. Louis to gather with their supporters on the big night. Chesterfield-area State Senator Jane Cunningham, who still officially represents Creve Coeur until the next General Assembly is sworn in in January, made the rounds to some of the events, including Lt. Governor Peter Kinder's gathering at the Drury Inn. Cunningham, who ended up a casualty of the redistricting process, decided not to run for the State Senate in another district, and also stayed out of the Second District U.S. House race. In an interview that came before winners were formally declared, she talked with Patch about the Presidential race, the U.S. Senate …

President Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.
President Barack Obama and Vice-President Joe Biden were re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Republican challenger Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate Rep. Paul Ryan. NBC News called the presidential election for Obama around 11:15 EST. The president sent a message on Twitter at 10:14 saying simply, "This happened because of you. Thank you." The Obama campaign won the most expensive presidential race ever, with both parties raising about $2.6 billion. The race was filled with negative campaigning on both sides, from President Obama attacking Romney’s business experience with Bain Capital to Romney lambasting Obama’s handling of the economy. The race tightened during the final months of the campaign, with gaffes and surges …
Voters in Missouri on Tuesday cast their ballot for Mitt Romney, giving him the state's 10 electoral votes.
Mitt Romney is projected to win Missouri’s 10 electoral votes on Tuesday, defeating Democrat Barack Obama. With 48 percent of the votes counted in the state, Romney leads with 57 to 41 percent of the vote. Two networks, CBS News and NBC News, have projected Romney to win Missouri. In the 2008 presidential election, the state voted for the Republican candidate, and since the 1990s has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race 4 out of 5 times. Romney and Obama did not campaign aggressively in Missouri. The state has typically been a Republican stronghold in recent presidential elections. The economy was a key issue for many voters in the state as well as jobs and Obama's push for universal health care. The campaign, while not …
