Girls Basketball: Pattonville Gets Past St. Charles West
Pirates eke out victory over game St. Charles West squad.
The Pattonville High girls basketball team sent a message Wednesday night. Loudly. "We want people to know that we can play," said Pirates junior winger Mikala McGhee. "That's our new mentality." McGhee and her teammates used a pair of lightning-quick starts at the beginning of each half to knock off St. Charles West 52-50 in a non-league contest at Pattonville High. The Pirates (3-0) passed their first close-game test after a pair of season-opening wins over Fort Zumwalt North and Parkway Central. West (3-2) rallied from double-digit deficits in each half but came up just short. McGhee, considered by many the top player in the Suburban North Conference, led all scorers with 21 points.
