St. Louis Boy Scouts placed flags on the graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Sunday, the tradition continued as more than 4,000 scouts and their families braved the heat to place flags on each of the 189,000 graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. See more photos on our Facebook page.

Members of the American Legion Post participated in activities at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

While there were no formal Memorial Day events scheduled at the Post Monday, there were still plenty of flags flying with pride. Those at Jefferson Barracks will notice an American flag at each veteran's gravesite, thanks to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other young volunteers.
