'There Is Hope For A Tree': Priory Planting Blessed In Honor of Late Student

Brandon Hsueh died from injuries sustained in a cross-country running accident earlier this year.

Students at St. Louis Priory's Junior School gathered outside on the grounds of the Creve Coeur campus in a brief ceremony Wednesday to bless a tree and bench in memory of Brandon Hsueh. Hsueh, a freshman from Ladue, died in September after he was hit by a car while running in a Cross Country practice near Conway Road. The project was paid for by some of the school's parents and students themselves, who wore red, white and blue bracelets and ribbons in Hsueh's honor at the ceremony. Fr. Michael Brunner, Priory Headmaster, recited a portion of the book of Job during the blessing. "For there is hope for a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its shoots will not cease." School leaders said Hsueh's family could not …

Brandon Hsueh, the 13 year-old Priory School student who passed away Friday after suffering critical injuries Wednesday, will be remembered at events this week. Brandon was hurt in a car accident while he was practicing with his cross country team off campus.  His funeral was held Monday morning at the Episcopal Church of St. Michael & St. George in Clayton. Hsueh was a student at St. Michael prior to enrolling at Priory. He was mourned by a capacity crowd which heard his father, Dr. Eddy Hsueh, talk about a boy who would often share his pencils with those who asked, content with what he had when given the chance to upgrade to a newer gadget. Grieving Priory School Community Coming Together

KSDK reports special programs are being planned to help students and others impacted by the death of Brandon Hsueh.

According to KSDK-TV, Brandon Hsueh, the 13 year-old Priory School student who died Friday following a car accident during a Wednesday cross-country training exercise, will be remembered in a pair of programs at the school this week and next. In a statement from the school's Headmaster, Father Michael Brunner told the station that a Sunday event with grief counselors would offer help to students and parents, and that an all school mass next Friday will be a "Requiem Mass for Brandon." Funeral arrangements were being made through Lupton Chapel and were not available late Friday. KSDK also reported that off-campus running for Hsueh's age group has been suspended. Priory Student Pronounced Dead After Injuries Sustained In Wednesday Accident

Creve Coeur Police say Brandon Hsueh either fell or stumbled off a Conway Road curb Wednesday afternoon during a cross country exercise.

Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and the Creve Coeur Police Department confirmed Friday morning that Brandon Hsueh, a seventh grade student at St. Louis Priory School in Creve Coeur was pronounced dead just before 1 a.m. Friday following serious injuries sustained in a Wednesday afternoon accident. Police say Hsueh, 13, had fallen behind a group of cross country runners jogging along Conway Road Wednesday afternoon when it appears he fell or stumbled off a a curb into the path of an oncoming car. Police said in a news release Thursday that he suffered a serious head injury. A police investigation is not yet complete and will be forwarded to St. Louis County Prosecutors as a formality, but a statement Thursday indicated there was no …
