Gusty winds and the annual parade highlight the final day of activities.
The 2011 installment of Creve Coeur Days comes to a close on Sunday. Crowds lined Olive Blvd. for the annual parade (look for a photo gallery coming Monday) before enjoying the final day of activity at the carnival midway.

Windy weather doesn't keep crowds away.
Creve Coeur Days festivities fended off Mother Nature once again Friday night. While rain and wind gusts did come through during the evening, it wasn't enough to dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd for Day 2 of the annual event. Check out our photo gallery, showing off the band Willis, some of the fun and games available for kids of all ages, and the folks who stopped by our booth. Come out and see us Saturday and Sunday. We'll have balloons, tattoos, magnets and more!

Annual event featuring a carnival and parade returns next month.
More than 40 years ago, city leaders wanted to figure out a way to celebrate the opening of the Olive Blvd. interchange at I-270. What began then as a parade has turned into a four day carnival, plus the parade, and will return again, May 19-22. For the third and final year, the carnival is being housed on the grounds of Barnes Jewish West Hospital at Olive Blvd. and Mason Rd. The event, which has raised thousands of dollars for charities around the St. Louis region over the years, has seen increased attendance since it made the move to the BJC campus, event spokesperson Ed Farber said. Previous homes for Creve Coeur Days have included areas of the city where Fountain Park, Kohl's, and The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center are currently…

I'm on my second generation of taking kids to Creve Coeur Parade and the carnival. Does anyone else share my sense that the whole thing is a somewhat tired format? While the folks lining Olive Blvd. with me and my 9-year-old guest on Sunday afternoon shared a lot of anticipatory excitement, I'm guessing that there was some disappointment when the parade actually passed us by. Hardly any music at …   more ›
