Creve Coeur Days Adds Pet Show
Learn about the new events at Creve Coeur Days 2013.
Both community festivals are booked as is for 2013.
According to Creve Coeur Mayor Barry Glantz, Creve Coeur Days organizers voted this week to keep the annual four-day community carnival event independent, despite inquiries circulating about a possible merger with Olivette On The Go's efforts here. A representative from Creve Coeur Days indicated earlier this week that it was possible a joint effort could be considered in the future if a venue in the city was unavailable. Both events have venues, dates and contracts in place for 2013. Wednesday night, Olivette On The Go organizers met and discussed having an "Olivette's Got Talent" theme in play for 2013, playing off the NBC reality talent show. Larry Gerstein, an organizer for Olivette On The Go, told Patch Thursday that a merger would …

Apparently, Olivette's mayor was approached with the idea. It's too late for this year, but would you support the idea?
Olivette Mayor Arthur Merdinian was apparently approached by organizers of the annual Creve Coeur Days festival about merging with Olivette On The Go, the city's September festival held last year at Stacy Park. That's according to a note in the agenda packet for Tuesday night's Olivette City Council meeting: "Mayor Merdinian...reported that 'Creve Coeur Days' has approached Olivette regarding the idea of holding a 'joint festival' between the two communities; however, he does not anticipate this happening this year, due to the fact that the dates have already been set for Olivette On The Go, a contract has already been agreed upon with the carnival service, and entertainers have already been lined up for the event." In fact, Creve Coeur …

The annual carnival already has a location and a date for next year. Now, organizers want your feedback.
After the "Will We Have It and Where Will We Have It" drama of 2012, it appears the annual Creve Coeur Days event is on solid footing in 2013. Organizers have already announced that next year's version will again be held at De Smet Jesuit, June 13-June 16. The non-profit organization that oversees the four day carnival now wants to see what else people want to include. Some of the ideas that have been tossed around include a pet show, a Creve Coeur Days Queen Contest, or a Taste of Creve Coeur Days featuring local restaurants. “We are looking for other ideas as well,” said Steve Tockman, President of Creve Coeur Days, Inc. in a news release. “We are open to any suggestions. The only limiting factors are that it can’t cost a lot to put on …

I love the group picture on the battleship first, then the "not-touching" carnival rides. While I love the other two, I think they'd be hard to capture in that terribly horizontal format of the timeline picture. What's everyone else think?   more ›

Organizers for Creve Coeur Days are taking some time to unwind following last weekend's festivities before crunching the amount of money raised for charities and figuring out plans for next year. The four day carnival midway, hosted at De Smet Jesuit High School for the first time, appeared to go off without incident, besides an abbreviated Saturday evening due to severe weather which came through the St. Louis area. Residents in nearby subdivisions voiced concerns over possibilities for vandalism and other problems, but according to Creve Coeur Police, there were no reports of criminal activity in the area. Brian Finnegan, from the Emerald Green subdivision, credited the police department's decision to restrict traffic in the neighborhood…
