Update: Aldi Seeks Former Borders Space For Grocery Store

2:28 p.m. Update- An ALDI spokesperson told Patch Monday afternoon that the grocer doesn't have "definite plans" to open a location in Creve Coeur. Stay with Patch for more on this story. Original Story Creve Coeur City officials confirmed Monday that the discount grocer ALDI has filed building permits to take over the former Borders Bookstore site at 11745 Olive Boulevard. The bookseller announced a liquidation of assets last summer and closed in September. An ALDI spokesperson was not immediately available for comment Monday morning. According to city planners, a grocery store is a permitted use for the site as it is presently zoned. City approval would be required for signage and changes to the building's exterior.
