Chamber Auction Gala Honors Police & Firefighters

The Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber of Commerce held the organization's annual dinner auction Friday night.

The Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber of Commerce was transported to an "Evening In Paris" Friday night for the organization's annual dinner auction gala. Local businesses donated items up for bid as well as experiences, like tours of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, the Creve Coeur Police Department or tickets to see the New York City Ballet. The evening also served as a way to recognize the Police Officer and Firefighter Paramedic of the Year for the cities of Creve Coeur and Olivette. Here's what the evening's program said about the honorees: Creve Coeur Fire Protection District: Paul Vessells, honored for his "tireless dedication to his profession both on and off duty and lengthy training and victorious win in a Guns n' Hoses …

Chamber President Apologizes For Olivette's Decision To Split

Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber board members addressed Olivette's City Council Tuesday night.

Olivette City Council members have already described their decision last month to cease the city's membership in the Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber of Commerce like a married couple in trouble. The metaphor resurfaced in several forms Tueday night when council members heard from the organization's President and a pair from the chamber's board of directors at a council work session. Teresa Crossland, Kevin Rejent and Kathy Franklin wanted to hear what brought about the move, or as Crossland put it, get "an honest listening." They got an earful. Mayor Arthur Merdinian said he was speechless, shocked and appalled that Chamber Executive Director Nancy Gray was unaware of the ballot issues the city of Olivette presented to voters last August, in …

Each week in this space, we tell you about some things you need to act on quickly or else you'll miss out. This week's Pick: The Creve Coeur-Olivette Chamber of Commerce's New Member Breakfast, which is scheduled for Friday at Parc Provence.
