Spartans will host Blue Springs next Friday night.
The announcement came out Friday night at CBC's W. Michael Ross Stadium: Missouri State High School Activities Association rules prohibit fans from storming the field at the conclusion of play. So after the postgame handshakes, De Smet's football team took the party to their fans in the stands, fresh off a stunning 56-35 win over the homestanding Cadets that will propel the Spartans into the state semifinals, at home next Friday against Blue Springs. De Smet overcame the loss of a pair of starters to injury on the offensive line coming into the contest, and then an early 2nd quarter 14-0 CBC lead to get to halftime on the strength of a fumble recovery by offensive lineman Frankie Maggiortto in the endzone, as well as an Alec Bausch 6-yard …

Parkway North and De Smet score impressive wins heading into big showdowns next weekend.
A weekend of high school football finished up Saturday with mixed results for teams with ties to Creve Coeur Patch. Parkway North, behind another strong performance from Johnathan Little, who had 243 yards on the ground and 3 TDs, went on the road to defeat University City 35-28. The Vikings (2-2) look to keep the momentum going for Saturday's Homecoming matchup against a tough Kirkwood squad that beat Rockwood Summit Saturday at the Edward Jones Dome. The Spartans win on the road and get ready to welcome Jefferson City next week.
Going into Friday night's game against Chaminade, Pat Mahoney's De Smet Football squad had managed to avoid a single fumble on the season. Despite putting the ball on the ground five times against the Red Devils, as well as throwing two interceptions, the Spartans used a stifling defense to back a power running attack to grab a 28-0 victory over their cross-town rivals. Junior RB Marcus Jester capped a dominating opening drive for the Spartans with the first of 3 TDs on the night, a 35 yard scamper. Check out photos from the game in our Facebook gallery Chaminade Junior QB Thomas Martin, starting his first high school game at QB after finishing last week's game against Ft. Zumwalt West, had a 40 yard pass play on his first drive, …

De Smet's Durron Neal has a 72-yard touchdown reception and returns a punt 50 yards and an interception 96 yards for TDs in a lopsided victory.
Durron Neal has seen De Smet take the first big hit in games this season and need to claw its way back. He left little chance of seeing that again Thursday against Miller Career Academy. The Oklahoma recruit and Spartan senior laid a jarring tackle on Markeese Marbley in front of the Miller sideline on the first play to set the tone in a 53-8 nonconference victory at Sumner. “Like I tell them, we have to make the first noise,” said Neal, who had a 72-yard touchdown reception and returned a punt 50 yards and an interception 96 yards for TDs. “This year, we’ve been getting hit first, but this is a change of the season next week. We’ve got to start hitting people first in the mouth. That hit…I just read it perfectly and set the tone for the …

De Smet is getting ready to host a key matchup against conference rival Chaminade.
Chaminade (3-0) will be taking an undefeated record into enemy territory on Friday when the Red Devils visit rival De Smet (3-1). This should be the biggest test of season for the Red Devils, whose average margin of victory this season has been 30 points, with the closest game being a 47-32 win to open the season over Riverview Gardens. De Smet has gotten off to a hot start as well, with the only bump in the road being a 52-22 loss to one of the area’s best teams, CBC, at the Edward Jones Dome. The Spartans bounced back the following week by beating Vianney and are hoping to keep their momentum going this weekend. A big factor for Chaminade will be if its defense can stop De Smet senior wide receiver Durron Neal. Neal is one of the top …
