The St. Louis County Board of Elections has now posted a township by township breakdown of election results from November 6, 2012.
We've known who won and lost in November's elections for more than a month, but now we know specifically how residents in Creve Coeur township cast their ballots, according to information from the St. Louis County Board of Elections. Democratic incumbent Clint Zweifel gave his acceptance speech just before midnight Tuesday, after a night of number watching in a close race with Republican challenger Cole McNary.
Democratic incumbent Clint Zweifel and Republican challenger Rep. Cole McNary faced off in the Nov. 6 election for the position of Missouri State Treasurer. As results came in Tuesday night, both candidates gathered with friends and family at St. Louis area watch parties. Initially, it was a tight race, but ultimately Zweifel declared victory and thanked his supporters just before midnight. "I think a lot of this illustrates hard work and investment in each other," Zweifel said. With 100 percent of the precincts counted early Wednesday morning, Zweifel had 50.3 percent of the vote and McNary had 45.5 percent of the vote. Missouri voters have until 7 p.m. to cast their Election 2012 ballots, but voting in other key swing states ends hours before then, and exit polling could provide an early indication of whether President Barack Obama or Mitt Romney wins the White House. The earliest key state to watch for is Virginia, where polls close at 6 p.m. St. Louis time. Voting ends 30 minutes later in swing states Ohio and North Carolina. At 7 p.m. St. Louis time, swing states Florida, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire close their polls. Wisconsin polls close at 8 p.m. St. Louis time. St. Louis County Public Library and Special School District proposals pass.
Voters have spoken, and as a result, the Creve Coeur and Olivette communities now have two representatives in Congress, one new State Representative in Jefferson City, and more locally, funding for special education and library reconstruction. Voters approved questions to fund what could mean a new Thornhill Branch of the St. Louis County library, and funds to renovate several buildings in the special school district, along with competitive teacher salaries. The area will continue to be represented by Kathleen Burkett on the St. Louis County Council.
