UPDATE: Weather Wreaking Havoc On Places to Celebrate July 4th Activities

"Patch" rounds up St. Louis-area celebrations for the holiday, with some starting as soon as this weekend. Note, some of the events have been curtailed or rescheduled because of warm weather conditions

With a vast array of fireworks displays, parades, live music, fairs and festivals, there's no shortage of activities in the St. Louis area. Here are five of the largest Independence Day events west of the Mississippi. Police Issue Fireworks Warning

The advice from Creve Coeur Police? Leave it to the pros.

The Creve Coeur Police have issued the following warning to anyone thinking of setting off fireworks to celebrate the Fourth of July: The Independence Day holiday is quickly approaching and the Creve Coeur Police Department would like to remind residents that possession or use of fireworks is illegal within the city limits. Officers will be providing extra patrols throughout the city to enforce this ordinance.  The risk to homes and properties catching fire due to fireworks is extremely high this year due to the dry conditions. A safer alternative is to leave fireworks to the professionals. There are many community firework displays planned around the St. Louis area.
