Who Was The Creve Coeur Newsmaker Of The Year In 2012

Tell us who you think deserves consideration for having had an impact on Creve Coeur in 2012.

We've reached that time of the year where we're in a reflective mood, and we're asking you to help us put 2012 in perspective. It is time to talk about who should be the Creve Coeur Newsmaker of the Year. Ah, but what does that mean? The beauty is, as they say, in the eye of the beholder. You get to help build the team picture, so to speak. Someone who did the most good? Parkway Northeast Middle Schooler Sam Klein could qualify for that. The young man was featured on NBC Nightly News and won a St. Louis Patch contest asking that very question. ALSO: Could it be Creve Coeur Mayor Barry Glantz? He won a Mayor's race that people had been talking about for nearly 2 years as longtime Mayor Harold Dielmann retired following term limits. The city…

I have to say Mayor Glantz is the newsmaker of the year. It was a contentious election with a popular city council member and many thought an incumbent councilman had the edge to win.   more ›

Delmar Gardens Plan For Creve Coeur Could Be Submitted This Summer

City planners anticipate a formal application later this summer for Ladue Road project after meeting with company representatives Thursday afternoon.

After months of hearing rumors about Delmar Gardens' interest in developing a 28 acre parcel of land on Ladue Road in Creve Coeur near Interstate 270, city leaders met with executives from the skilled nursing firm Thursday afternoon to discuss the project. Langdon said the three-…

Could This Be The Week We Learn Something About Delmar Gardens' Creve Coeur Plans?

The company has not returned numerous calls from Patch seeking comment in recent weeks.

If one of the expected form questions around St. Louis as a region is the old reliable, "where did you go to high school?", then Creve Coeur could easily trot out, "Wouldn't it be great to have a hardware store?" or "Do we really need another bank?" Quickly rising through the ranks is anything that hovers around when we'll learn something about Delmar Gardens and the company's plans for the 28 acres of land it owns on Ladue Road near Interstate 270. The discussion was largely dormant for a year after it re-emerged in April 2011, then popped up again prior to the April 2012 elections, thanks to St. Louis Business Journal reports indicating a site development plan was in the offing. Then came word at a recent Ward 3 Town Hall that …

Report: Delmar Gardens To Take Medicare Hit

Skilled nursing facilities around the country face cuts this fall.

An executive behind Delmar Gardens is reportedly vowing not to making staffing cuts at the company's nursing homes in the wake of news that the company will receive $4.5 million less in medicare reimbursements this year. The St. Louis Business Journal reports the company received $42 million in 2010 but will only see $37 million in 2011 due to a decision handed down last week by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. That decision, is meant for Skilled Nursing Providers to be paid "more accurately based on the service needs of Medicare beneficiaries in their care," according to a press release from the agency. The statement continued that "the adjustment was determined using claims and assessment data from the first eight months of …
