With the holidays now in the rear mirror, the Ladue School District faces an important month in moving forward in finding new leadership in January. Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Judy Sclair, is acting as Interim Superintendent for the remainder of the 2012-13 academic year, following the school board's decision to grant Dr. Marsha Chappelow request for a leave of absence. According to a district e-newsletter, the district is hosting a Community Forum January 8 at Horton Watkins High School from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to get input from the public about qualities district patrons hope the new superintendent brings to the table. The fact remains, Ladue High School needs lights, and a turf field for its football complex. Before you grab your telephone cord to strangle me, or decide to burn my house down with some vigilantes, hear me out. There are health and safety factors that cannot be swept under an artificial rug. Its just too damn hot in August and September to attempt to play football in the day time sweltering heat. Players are wearing all kinds of heavy gear, and the weather is not conducive to good safety factors. Additionally, teachers, coaches and administrators are neither paid, nor expected to work a six or seven-day week. A turf field means the complex can be used around the clock for gym class, field hockey games; soccer, flag football, you name it. …

More than 20 new certified teachers will be working in the district this year.
The Ladue School District has 21 new members of its certified teaching staff for the 2011-12 school year. Here are the new teaching hires, listed by buildings with students from Creve Coeur. Spoede Elementary School Theodore Washington, third grade He has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Harris-Stowe State University and a degree in education administration from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Why shouldn't MICDS, John Burroughs and Ladue Horton Watkins all be allowed to have lights? Aren't the campuses of the first two (it's been many years since I set foot on either, so forgive me) large enough so that lights would not negatively affect the surrounding neighborhoods?
