This is a big weekend for football fans for the games on the field--the start of district play at the high school level, including a Homecoming matchup for Parkway North against Parkway Central, and an important Homecoming contest for the University of Missouri against Iowa State. And of course, there are those St. Louis Cardinals. It is also a big weekend for what's going on before and after the game too--the all-important tailgate. We've assembled a few suggestions that you can make, pack up and enjoy! Zesty 100-Yard Bites Mix mayo, Sriracha and lime juice in a small bowl. Prep Football Preview: Chaminade Embraces Underdog Status

The Red Devils have to rebuild after losing standouts Rob Standard and Christian Suntrup.

Program sales should be brisk early this fall at Chaminade football games. The roster is filled with unfamiliar names as the Red Devils have to rebuild after losing some of the best skill position players in the St. Louis area. Gone to Boston College is quarterback Christian Suntrup, who was a three-year starter with a couple of starts in his freshman season. Also gone is record-setting running back Rob Standard, a three-year starter who is now at Iowa State University. "We had a senior laden group last year with an experienced quarterback and the best rusher in St. Louis history," Red Devil coach Doug Taylor said. "We will have a lot of guys who people don't know. Student-Athletes And Families Happy Recruiting Process Is Over

Creve Coeur area schools produced large number of college-bound football players.

Families around the St. Louis area have a huge collective load off their shoulders, and it has nothing to do with shoveling, or snow days. Wednesday was the first day high school seniors in a variety of sports, but primarily football, could sign their college letters of intent to play at the college level. College recruiters have been beating down a path to the Creve Coeur area for years, and this was no exception, as players from Chaminade, De Smet and Parkway North attracted attention from BCS conference programs from around the country. This year, there were no last-minute high profile defections of Creve Coeur products from one school to another. That's not from a lack of trying on the part of college coaches though. Standard Gets Missouri Athletic Club Honor

The Chaminade running back caps off record-breaking career with honors at the annual Jack Buck Awards banquet

Humility and a solid work ethic helped Chaminade College Prep football standout Rob Standardascend the ranks to become the St. Louis area's all-time leading rusher in 2010 – and to that end, the unassuming, Iowa State University-bound senior was lauded Tuesday night lauded by the Missouri Athletic Club during the 41st annual Jack Buck Sports Awards banquet. His career numbers speak for themselves. Tuesday night, he reflected on what helped him get to this point. "Things were great at Chaminade. I couldn't have chosen a better school. I had some of the best coaches and teammates. Our journey was great, and I'll always have fond memories of my experiences there."
