Hundreds Mourn Whitfield Teacher Friday

Janet Esrock died Sunday following injuries sustained in an August 26 car accident.

A memorial service was held Friday for Janet Esrock, the Chesterfield woman and Whitfield School Teacher and coach who died Sunday after sustaining serious injuries in a two-car accident August 26. By one informal police estimate, there were at least 500 people in the standing room only crowd at Temple Emanuel late Friday morning. Mourners stood in the lobby after many of them parked across the street at Mercy Hospital. Those in attendance heard friends and family speak of a woman dedicated to her family, her students and her school--"she literally breathed Whitfield," one speaker said. Another described her as someone who did not have the word "no" in her vocabulary. Her cousin described Esrock, who was a 1979 graduate of Ladue Horton …

Funeral Service Scheduled Friday For Whitfield Teacher

The school will host calling hours Friday after the memorial.

A memorial service for Janet Esrock, the Whitfield School teacher who died Sunday following injuries sustained in a car accident last month will be held Friday. The service will be held at Temple Emanuel, 12166 Conway Road St. Louis, MO 63141 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Whitfield School will be closed Friday to allow students and faculty to attend the service. In a change from earlier arrangements, the school will host calling hours from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m Friday afternoon in Schmitter Gallery.

Whitfield Teacher Dies From Auto Accident Injuries

School will not be in session Friday.   Original Story: In a statement posted on the school's website, Whitfield School on Monday announced the death of teacher and coach Janet Esrock, from injuries sustained in a serious car accident in Chesterfield last month. Esrock and her son, Jonathan, who is also a Whitfield student, suffered severe injuries August 26 on their way home from a friend's football game when they were struck head-on by another vehicle. Whitfield School Community Comes Together To Support The Esrocks

A teacher and son injured in a car accident last week remain hospitalized, but are getting encouragement from their school family in Creve Coeur.

Janet and Jonathan Esrock remain hospitalized at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur Thursday morning, 6 days after a serious car accident last weekend in Chesterfield. A hospital spokeswoman said Janet Esrock, a math teacher and girls field hockey coach at Whitfield School in Creve Coeur, was in critical condition while her son, a student at Whitfield, is in satisfactory condition. According to a CaringBridge website established by the family, Jonathan is dealing with a range of injuries, including broken ribs, torn neck ligaments and partially collapsed lungs. Creve Coeur School Touched By Serious Car Accident

Whitfield teacher and son injured in Chesterfield crash.

Janet Esrock, a teacher at Whitfield School in Creve Coeur, and her son Jonathan, a sophomore at the school, are still hospitalized after a car accident late Friday night in Chesterfield. The popular Whitfield teacher was in "relatively stable condition" at St. John's Mercy Medical Center Tuesday morning, family said. In a positive measure, Jonathan, 16, was expected to be removed from breathing aids. Police said the crash occurred about 10:40 Friday night near the Riverdale intersection with Wildhorse Creek Road in Chesterfield. The two were returning from a friend's football game.
