The Creve Coeur-based firm says it is committed to employee safety.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA announced that it was charging the Creve Coeur-based subdidiary of American Water, with willful violations after an accident with a saw kicked back and killed an employee. Joplin 1 Year Later: How Creve Coeur Ties Helped Out

One year after the devastating tornado brought destruction to the Missouri city, Patch looks back at how your friends and neighbors offered a helping hand to those in need

Almost as if to show the state and the nation that it is on the road back to recovery, high profile remembrances of the May 22, 2011 Joplin Tornado took place a day before the anniversary itself, as President Obama, Governor Nixon and other dignitaries were on hand in the city for Joplin High School's graduation exercises. The tornado and the damage it caused drew many with Creve Coeur ties to jump into action. We thought now would be a good time to reintroduce you to many of those stories here. We might humbly suggest that you might give a thanks to the people mentioned here for what they've done to help put Joplin back on the road to recovery. You can do that in the comment section in each story if you'd like. May 25, 2011:Ronald …

Welcome back to another week on Creve Coeur Patch...As usual, it will be a busy one for everyone! Monday night, we'll be at the City of Creve Coeur Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, which will address several rezoning questions we've explored in recent weeks, as well as reveal the areas the city of Creve Coeur MIGHT have interest in annexing over the next five years. Tuesday is a day we'll remember here on Creve Coeur Patch, as will those across the state and the nation. On May 22, 2011, a tornado devastated Joplin, killing scores of people and changing lives. We'll take a look back at how Creve Coeur helped in the recovery, and the lessons learned from the tragedy. How were you impacted by the events? Did you volunteer in the …

Creve Coeur Building Officials Volunteer In Joplin

Burke and Unser describe scenes and stories of devastation, survival.

Joplin was once an easy city to navigate but that all changed late last month. “It was like nothing I’ve ever seen before and hopefully I’ll never see again,” said Steve Unser, chief building official for the City of Creve Coeur, after examining the damage in the southwest Missouri town firsthand last month. “Buildings were literally flattened. All you saw where there once was a building were piles of debris.” Without street signage or landmarks, Unser had to use an aerial map provided by the city just to get his bearings in the alien landscape. His coworker Patrick Burke, Creve Coeur’s commercial building inspector, had a similar experience. “I’ve seen tornado damage here and there but nothing quite like this,” he said. “It looked like a …

Creve Coeur Firefighters and Other Resources Helping Out In Joplin

local manpower and money to help tornado recovery.

As the nation's eyes focus on tornado damage in Joplin, three members of the Creve Coeur Fire Protection District are spending their first full day in the devastated city for a 48 hour deployment. The trio, which includes a fire captain and two firefighter/paramedics, are part of a team consisting of firefighters from St. Louis County. The team was activated Monday afternoon and met up with other fire and rescue crews at Six Flags before departing for Joplin. It was unclear late Monday exactly what the specific role would be once they arrived, or if that deployment would be extended. Also late Monday, Patch learned that some of the proceeds from a charity golf tournament held last week by the police departments in Creve Coeur and Town and …
