Update On Parkway North Spring Break Bus Incident: 'Scary as all Get Out'

Students leave Florida Friday for a weekend cruise to the Bahamas which includes a Saturday morning band and orchestra competition.

Patch is learning more about some of the circumstances surrounding a harrowing bus trip for members of the Parkway North High School Marching Band and Orchestra en route to Florida to catch a cruise to the Bahamas for a Spring Break competition. KSDK first reported yesterday on the heroic actions taken by Band Director Mark Linn to guide a bus full of students to safety after the driver appeared to be unconscious while on a Georgia highway near Atlanta. By phone with Patch Friday morning, Linn said it was "scary as all get out." The bus was one of three for the group, carrying 40 students and six adults. KSDK: 8-Car Crash On 270 Snarls Creve Coeur Traffic

9:30 a.m. Update: The station reports the scene has been cleared.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports that a "multi-vehicle" collission scene southbound on Interstate 270 just before Olive Boulevard had been limited to closing the left two lanes as of approximately 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. KSDK reports that the crash involved 8 cars when it happened around 8 a.m. Tuesday. The station reported in its 9:30 a.m. report that the scene had been cleared. Patch will be checking with authorities on the extent of any injuries.

Grieving Priory School Community Coming Together

KSDK reports special programs are being planned to help students and others impacted by the death of Brandon Hsueh.

According to KSDK-TV, Brandon Hsueh, the 13 year-old Priory School student who died Friday following a car accident during a Wednesday cross-country training exercise, will be remembered in a pair of programs at the school this week and next. In a statement from the school's Headmaster, Father Michael Brunner told the station that a Sunday event with grief counselors would offer help to students and parents, and that an all school mass next Friday will be a "Requiem Mass for Brandon." Funeral arrangements were being made through Lupton Chapel and were not available late Friday. KSDK also reported that off-campus running for Hsueh's age group has been suspended. Whitfield School Community Comes Together To Support The Esrocks

A teacher and son injured in a car accident last week remain hospitalized, but are getting encouragement from their school family in Creve Coeur.

Janet and Jonathan Esrock remain hospitalized at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur Thursday morning, 6 days after a serious car accident last weekend in Chesterfield. A hospital spokeswoman said Janet Esrock, a math teacher and girls field hockey coach at Whitfield School in Creve Coeur, was in critical condition while her son, a student at Whitfield, is in satisfactory condition. According to a CaringBridge website established by the family, Jonathan is dealing with a range of injuries, including broken ribs, torn neck ligaments and partially collapsed lungs.
