I agree Haley. Our CFO is great, but more great fiscally-minded board members would be great too. I noticed one candidate is running on the platform of supporting the 1 to 1 initiative and supporting Dr. Jahnke in all her recommendations. I also have great respect for Dr. Jahnke....but I feel that the board should not be "yes men (and women)" for the administration.....group think isn't going to …   more ›

Ladue Names New High School Principal

Bradley Griffith is currently the school's Associate Principal.

The Ladue School District announced Tuesday morning that Bradley Griffith, the Associate Principal at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, has been hired by the district to be the school's next principal. Griffith succeeds Bridget Hermann, who announced that she would resign at the end of the current academic year. At the time of her announcement, Hermann cited philosophical differences and the "significant time justifying the need for educational initiatives," and "clarifying day-to-day administrative decisions." “This last year has given me a great opportunity to learn both the strengths and the opportunities for improvement that exist within our high school," said Griffith, who came to the district from Georgetown Preparatory School in …

Sequester Could Have Mixed Impact On St. Louis Area Schools

District administrators are forecasting financial hits on programs from child nutrition to special education.

West St. Louis Country area school districts are crunching the numbers and trying to determine what mandated federal budget cuts would mean if they go into effect starting Friday as part of the so-called "sequestration process." The White House released a state-by-state projection saying "Missouri will lose about $11.9 million in funding for primary and secondary education, putting around 160 teacher and aide jobs at risk. In addition, about 17,000 fewer students would be served and about 60 fewer schools would receive funding." The Special School District, which serves students with special needs from nearly every district in St. Louis County, would see cuts to funding from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act or IDEA. …

I made a mistake on the amount of the contract of the recruiting company. It is $16,210 instead of $50,000. So in the last two months the board threw away $116,200 instead of $150,000.   more ›

Should Ladue Reopen the Search for a New Superintendent?

Third candidate, Dr. Jon Lamberson dropped out of the final 3, citing scheduling conflicts.

Monday p.m. update: The Ladue School district announced that Tuesday's board meeting would be held at the Ladue Middle School cafeteria to handle what is expected to be a large turnout, instead of the district administration building. Original Report: In light of Jon Lamberson, superintendent of the Riverside, IL School District dropping out of the final three for Ladue’s new superintendent of schools, the field has been narrowed to just two finalists. They are Fred Czerwonka, superintendent of the West Plains, Missouri School District and Donna Jahnke, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in the Ladue School District. Dr. Lamberson dropped out of contention over the weekend, citing scheduling conflicts to finalize his …

Scott....it isn't uncommon for districts to announce finalist candidates for Superintendent. Not all do, but Dr. Lamberson, for instance, was a finalist for a Minneapolis area position last year and went through a very public vetting up there. Would be interesting to find out if candidates in this case knew as part of the application process that their names would be released, but I don't think …   more ›

While she may be the best of the three, is she the best that a national search could bring in? Seems clear that the other two candidates were selected to make her look better. Such a dissapointment.   more ›
