Traffic Ahead: Another Construction-Free Weekend

Along with the MoDOT report, MADD has some advice for what to do if you see a drunk driver.

This week, considering the New Year's Eve parties coming Saturday night, Traffic Troublemakers shares information from Missouri MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) on what to do if you see a drunk driver. Following that is the weekly report from MoDOT. Here's MADD's advice:   Once again, a weekend free of highway work zones The Missouri Department of Transportation will halt all work zones beginning at noon Friday, December 30. Work zones will resume on Tuesday, January 3 at 9 a.m. Traffic will continue to be restricted in areas where there are permanent barriers. Crews may continue to work on sections of roadway closed to the public (such as the Route 141 construction in St. Louis). If required, crews will also close lanes where needed …

Storms don't stop Creve Coeur New Year's Eve effort from moving forward

When Thomas Bitter received a call from his son Jason asking if his curfew could be extended, Bitter saw no harm in it. The young man, a 17-year-old athlete with a winning sense of humor, was given permission to stay out later than normal. It was the last conversation Bitter would ever have with his son. "As it turns out, that was one of those decisions that I'll regret but I've come to peace with the fact that I didn't kill him," Bitter said. "A drunk driver did." Bitter said the young man died when an impaired motorist crossed the center line striking the vehicle Jason was in, killing him and one of his friends. Another person in the car was injured.
