The Chaminade and De Smet grads were named to the training camp roster for the men's national team.

The offseason just got a little shorter for a pair of Creve Coeur prep soccer alums who only last month took their pro team to the doorstep of an MLS Cup. Brad Davis (Chaminade) and Will Bruin (De Smet Jesuit), who are teammates on the Houston Dynamo, were both named to the practice roster for the U.S. Men's National squad as it prepares to qualify for the 2014 World Cup. The first match of the 2013 season for the national club is a "friendly" against Canada, in Houston January 27. “It is definitely an honor to get a chance to represent your country, and I am really excited for it,” said Bruin in a statement released by Houston. “I think this is a great opportunity, and one I’ve been waiting for.” Said Davis, “The off-season was awfully …

LA Galaxy Vice President Chris Klein is also a De Smet Jesuit graduate who won an MLS Cup in 2000. Davis and Bruin will look to avenge last year's final, a 1-0 Galaxy win. From Chaminade To Washington D.C.

Goalkeeper who learned the ropes in Creve Coeur now trying to make an impact in pro soccer.

On January 13, Chaminade graduate and Oakville native Joe Willis sat at his computer watching the 2011 Major League SuperDraft, looking for teams needing goalkeepers. “I was expecting if I were to get picked in the SuperDraft it would be toward the end. And when I saw Seattle took the goalie from Monmouth in the second round, then I pretty much thought that was it, since I didn’t see any other teams needing goalies,” Willis said. Shortly after that the 6-foot-5-inch, 190-pound netminder got a call from an assistant coach at D.C. United who said the team traded for the 50th overall pick in the SuperDraft and was going to take Willis. “I was surprised, and I didn’t know what to say,” Willis said. “I called my parents and my brother right …

"The second goal before halftime was huge for momentum and the third one gave us that extra cushion." Bruin became only the fourth rookie to ever score a hat trick in a game and joins fellow St. Louisan and De Smet Spartan alum Pat Noonan in that category.  Bruin also broke …
