2014 Trial Set in Lawsuit Claiming Child Was Decapitated During Delivery

Attorneys met with Circuit Court Judge Barbara Wallace concerning a motion to quash deposition of two doctors involved in the delivery.

A 2014 trial date was set in a couple’s lawsuit against a Creve Coeur OBGYN practice. The lawsuit claims the couple's child was decapitated during delivery on March 22, 2011. The couple, Arteisha Betts and Travis Ammonette, of Florissant, is suing Midwest Maternal & Fetal Medicine Services, LLC, Signature Medical Group Inc., both in Creve Coeur, as well as Dr. Gilbert Webb and Dr. Susan D. Moore. The lawsuit indicates the doctors involved in the delivery coerced Betts and Ammonette into a vaginal delivery when Moore advised the couple that a Cesarean section was necessary due to the child’s "accelerated abdominal circumference." During the delivery at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, the complaint states, "Webb separated decedent Kaden Travis …

St. Peters Man Reunited With Monarch First Responders Who Saved His Life

Gary Haworth was on his way home from work in Creve Coeur when he suffered a heart attack in St. Charles County.

It may not be enough to just call Gary Haworth lucky. On August 20, Haworth was driving to his St. Peters home after a day working at a Commerce Bank call center in Creve Coeur, talking to his wife Laurie about making a stop at the grocery store on the way. The line went dead as Gary was on the Page Avenue extension in St. Charles. Laurie thought he had dropped the phone, but couldn't reach him via OnStar either. Instead she got another call later, telling her that he'd been in a car accident. Gary had suffered a heart attack. But thanks to the incredible fortune of having the right bystanders and the right first responders, Gary Haworth is alive today to thank those who made it possible. He says he remembers nothing about the accident …

Video: Hula Hoopin' To Health In Creve Coeur

Mercy program urges employees to 'Healthify"

To mark National Employee Health and Fitness Day in 2011, employees at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur did jumping jacks. On Wednesday, the staff turned to another childhood pursuit to celebrate the event this year: Hula Hoops. Employees came and went throughout the day to give fitness a twirl as part of a program nicknamed "Hoopin to Healthify".  “We’re tipping the scales,” said Lynn Britton, president and CEO of Mercy in a statement prior to the event. “Many of the states Mercy serves lead the nation in obesity. Sadly, our country’s youth are following in those footsteps. Through healthification and awareness, Mercy’s goal is to reverse the trend.” In other Mercy locations around the country, there were obstacle courses, javelin throws, …

Creve Coeur Looking For Green Power Buy-in; Will You?

The EPA partnership got a boost locally when Mercy, the Koman Group and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center agreed to join the "Green Power Challenge".

Creve Coeur is now officially on its way to seeing if it can become the second city in the state of Missouri to be designated as a Green Power Community. City officials and community business leaders formally kicked off a campaign Wednesday at Mercy Hospital St. Louis that was approved by the city council in December.  The goal is to be able to offset 3 percent of all energy usage (business, government and residential), or a total of 1,523 megawatt hours by April 2013 with renewable energy sources, either by using solar panels or purchasing Renewable Energy Credits. Clayton became the first community to reach that benchmark in 2011. Mercy Hospital St. Louis, The Koman Group and the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center were saluted …

Babies Leap Into The Creve Coeur Patch Neighborhood Gallery

Check out what your friends and neighbors are posting on Patch!

The Associated Press reports that at least according to one expert, the odds of being born on February 29 are 1 in 1,461. So it looks like Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur can say it went against the grain, clocking in six "Leap Day" births, with two of them being twins. We're unsure of those odds, by the way. (Don't forget to "Like" us on Facebook) Check out the photos here, and if you have any older friends or family who are also Leap Day babies, add them to our Neighborhood Gallery, like Mercy Hospital St. Louis did!
