Packing for a hike and a space shuttle mission are quite different. Lt. Col. Robert Behnken should know—he’s an astronaut who enjoys the outdoor activity when he’s not exploring the final frontier. But packing for space missions may be a thing of the past. The final space shuttle mission is set to land at the Kennedy Space Center Thursday. Behnken is a local astronaut. He graduated from Pattonville High School in 1988. He went on to earn a B.A. in physics and B.S. in mechanical engineering from Washington University, according to his NASA bio, and master's and doctorate in mechanical engineering from the California Institute of Technology.
