Donnie White Gives Verbal College Football Pledge To Tulsa

The De Smet senior is one of the area's top defenders.

A week and a half after telling Patch that he planned to focus on a state title run before making a college choice, De Smet Jesuit Senior Donnie White, a defensive end, announced via Twitter late Monday night that he was committing to play at the University of Tulsa. White could not be reached for comment. White, who has 13 sacks on the season, had offers from Boston College, Wyoming and Arkansas, among others.  The pledge, which is only verbal at this point and won't be official until a signed letter of intent is signed in February, would be the second for Tulsa from this year's crop of Metro Catholic Conference squads. Donnie White Talks About Division I Scholarship Offers

The De Smet Junior says he'll wait until after his senior season to make a decision.

As a high school freshman, Donnie White said he had his mind set on playing Division I football. White, now a junior at De Smet, now has two scholarship offers to do just that. Within the last week, the defensive end received his first offer from Arkansas after a recent visit to Fayetteville, and just picked up another from Western Kentucky. A highlight of the Arkansas trip was getting a look at a slideshow of the school's multimillion dollar investment in upgrading football facilities.
