Inspirational Story On Parkway North Student Manager Gets Exposure

KSDK profiled the opportunity a senior manger had to start a late-season matchup against Kirkwood.

The story we shared earlier this month on Patch about Brian Thal, the student manager for the Parkway North baseball team who started the Vikings' game earlier this month against Kirkwood was easily one of the top-read stories in May. Read: Sportsmanship Wins In Parkway North-Kirkwood Baseball Matchup We caught word last week that KSDK-TV had heard about the Brian Thal story and was working on the station's own version of it. The story ran Monday morning and is now posted online.  Congratulations Brian!

Parkway North Baseball State Title Bid Earns Top 2012 Sports Story Honor

The Vikings went on a wild ride in search of the school's first state baseball championship.

2012 was a busy year in sports for Creve Coeur. It saw prep athletes like Durron Neal, Brandon Sheperd, Donavin Newsom and DJ Johnson sign on the dotted line to play football or basketball at the next level for major Division I programs. It saw a Creve Coeur alum, Chaminade's Bradley Beal drafted third overall by the NBA's Washington Wizards. Andy Bauer, then only a sophomore, made headlines when he made a verbal pledge to play football at Missouri. He's since re-opened his recruitment and is still being sought out by some of the top schools in the country. At the team level, Whitfield Hockey won a crown, Parkway North basketball won the school's first ever district championship, and a powerhouse Chaminade Soccer team made it to the state …

District Champs! Parkway North Wins First Baseball Title Since 2003

The Vikings advance to Tuesday's state sectional round against Ft. Zumwalt South.

Parkway North took an early lead and withstood a late rally in the Class 4 District 7 championship baseball game, beating Francis Howell North by a 7-5 margin Wednesday at De Smet. Backed by timely hitting and a servicable start from sophomore pitcher Joe Hope, Parkway North brought home its first district championship since 2003. The fourth-seeded Vikings dispatched No. 5 Pattonville 4-3 in the first round and No. 1 CBC 11-6 in the semifinals prior to Wednesday's win over the No. 2 Knights. Parkway North coach Fred Friedman said his team hadn't spoken about the game that ended its 2011 season, a 19-1 district loss to De Smet. But once the Vikings recorded the final out against Francis Howell North, Friedman finally felt comfortable …
