Clint Zweifel Says He'll Serve Full Term As State Treasurer

Just elected to a four-year term in November, Missouri's State Treasurer is seen by some as a possible candidate for Lieutenant Governor if a vacancy is created.

In what he called a "sincere statement," Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel told Patch Wednesday he would serve a full term in office, despite some speculation he could be a candidate for lieutenant governor. Zweifel, a former state representative from Florissant, spoke to a group of small business owners at Pulaski Bank in Creve Coeur Wednesday. Political watchers will be keeping a close eye on what happens Feb. 9 in Southeast Missouri, as Republicans in the state's Eighth Congressional district decide who to put up in a June special election to fill the seat left empty by Jo Ann Emerson's resignation. Bank On It! Creve Coeur Council Moves To Keep City Deposits At Pulaski

The city's Finance Director had recommended shifting the city's business to UMB.

In an attempt to avoid what Creve Coeur Mayor Harold Dielmann called "a slap in the face" for banks located within city limits, City Council members voted Monday night to extend its banking services agreement with Pulaski Bank, pushing back a city staff suggestion that would have landed city business at UMB Bank, in Maryland Heights. According to a staff report, of the four banks which submitted a bid for the services, Pulaski Bank had the lowest bid. UMB's offer was the least expensive, thanks to other factors, including an earnings credit in the city's favor. City Finance Director Dan Smith endorsed the move to UMB, carefully saying that he wasn't "saying that any of these banks wouldn't do a good job," but that the UMB proposal also …
