Pattonville High School Senior Gets NFL Draft Stage

Jesse Farmer's home sustained serious damage in the Good Friday Tornado.

Patch continues to follow the aftermath of the Good Friday storms which wreaked havoc on the lives of thousands of people in the St. Louis area. This weekend, the St. Louis Rams and the National Football League are reaching out to the families impacted by the storm. Jesse Farmer, a senior at Pattonville High School and a Pirate football player, was flown with his family to New York City Friday. On Saturday, Farmer announced the Rams' fourth-round draft choice in front of the assembled crowd at Radio City Music Hall. Commentators from the NFL Network also paused from their draft analysis to give Farmer the chance to make the pick (Hawaii receiver Greg Salas) heard in cable homes around the country. Rams, Fans and Media Gather For NFL Draft Party In Creve Coeur

A look at the Rams party in Creve Coeur celebrating the start of the NFL Draft.

For hard-core pro football fans, Thursday night marks an oasis in an offseason marred by labor disputes in the NFL. Thursday night is the start of the 2011 Annual Selection Meeting, now commonly known as the draft. The St. Louis Rams co-sponsored a watch party at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Creve Coeur. Fans mingled with Rams alumni, cheerleaders, among other activities, while 101 ESPN Radio broadcast the station's live coverage of the draft on location from the restaurant. Here's a look at some of the action from Thursday.

Standard Gets Missouri Athletic Club Honor

The Chaminade running back caps off record-breaking career with honors at the annual Jack Buck Awards banquet

Humility and a solid work ethic helped Chaminade College Prep football standout Rob Standardascend the ranks to become the St. Louis area's all-time leading rusher in 2010 – and to that end, the unassuming, Iowa State University-bound senior was lauded Tuesday night lauded by the Missouri Athletic Club during the 41st annual Jack Buck Sports Awards banquet. His career numbers speak for themselves. Tuesday night, he reflected on what helped him get to this point. "Things were great at Chaminade. I couldn't have chosen a better school. I had some of the best coaches and teammates. Our journey was great, and I'll always have fond memories of my experiences there."
