Ladue School Board Gets 1st Glimpse at Funding Building Plans

An initial draft of a funding plan for Ladue's $107 million "master plan" would raise the debt service tax by 30 cents per $100 in assessed value by 2015.

Members of the Ladue School Board took their first steps toward implementing a massive building campaign within the district during a workshop session this week designed to consider possible ways to pay for the $107 million in improvements. Like Creve Coeur Patch on Facebook District officials cautioned that none of the financial ideas were set in stone and that they had work to do to communicate with parents and taxpayers about the district's need for new buildings, renovations and "seismic upgrades" to protect against earthquakes. This first pass, presented by Jason Buckner, assistant superintendent for business and finance for the district, would involve two increases in the tax rate that supports paying the district's debt. The Ladue School Board meets in a work session on Monday evening to discuss, among other things, the master plan presentation board members received in December. Monday's discussion is expected to review how the district might finance the plan, according to a memo in the board agenda circulated on Friday. Ladue Schools Appoints Stallons to Spoede Elementary School Principal

Her last position was at Bayless Middle School.

On April 9 the Ladue Schools Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Kimberly J. Stallons as principal of Spoede Elementary School beginning July 1, 2012. Dr. Stallons will replace retiring Principal Dr. Connie Brawley who has been principal of the school since 2006. Dr. Brawley’s contract with the district will expire June 30, 2012.  Stallons comes to Ladue Schools from Bayless School District where she has served as principal of Bayless Intermediate School since 2007.  Previous to her current position, Stallons was an Area Coordinator – Special Education Administrator working in the Bayless School District for Special School District. “Dr. Stallons’ past experience and education are an excellent fit for our district, and for …

Ladue Administrators Making A Move Out Of The District

A district assistant superintendent and an administrative intern at Spoede Elementary will assume new roles in the fall in Brentwood.

The woman who essentially functions as the assistant principal at Spoede Elementary in Creve Coeur will be moving up to the Principal's office in a new district next fall. Trina Petty-Rice was named late last month to run Mark Twain Elementary School in Brentwood beginning next year. She'll be joined in Brentwood by Dr. Jane Oakley, an Assistant Superintendent of Educational Leadership at Ladue, who will serve as Assistant Superintendent there. Petty-Rice has split her time between Spoede and Reed Elementary since 2010, and prior to that was a district technology coordinator and a teacher at Spoede and Ladue Middle School. Ladue School Board Votes to Put Levy on the Ballot

If approved, the measure will raise the district's tax levy by 49 cents.

The Ladue School Board will let voters decide next year whether to increase its tax levy by 49 cents. The board voted 5-1 on Monday to place a proposition up for a public vote authorizing the school district “to increase the operating tax levy of the District by $0.49 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.” According to the ballot language, the increase would be used for “paying for costs of educational programs, school supplies and equipment, student transportation, employee salaries, utilities, maintaining existing facilities, and other operational expenses of the District.” If the measure is approved by voters, the adjusted operating levy for the district is estimated to be $3.24 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation. …

Voting for this tax means voting for endless taxes. Clearly the school district has an out-of-control spending problem. We just voted for a tax increase last year. How many tax increases will satisfy the school? Endless. Vote no to stop the mindless spending.   more ›
