Memories Priceless for Local State Swimmers at the State Championships

Really strong finishes by MICDS, St. Joseph's Academy and John Burroughs.

In particular, it had to be emotional for senior Trey Ross (Patch MVP of the Week) who swam her very last race for the MICDS Rams. That thought crossed her mind as she sprinted home in the 12th and final event, the 400 yard relay of the 38th state swim championships. “I never swam harder in my entire life. I gave it everything I had,” said Ross, who will study journalism in college but has not decided on which school yet. “That was the fastest I’ve ever gone and by three seconds, and that felt good,” said Ross. One More Look Back at the Locals In all the Holiday Tournaments

Championship trophies for Ladue, MICDS girls and Burroughs boys. Second for St. Joe Angels.

The 2012 holiday hoop fests were ones for the ages in Ladue and Frontenac. Burroughs went overtime and beat Pattonville, winning at Chaminade the second-consecutive year. The MICDS girls celebrated coach Scott Small's birthday by winning their own tournament, beating arch rival Westminster Christian Academy for the trophy. That ends a 5 game spell held by the Wildcats over the Rams. The Ladue girls won the first ever Ritenour tournament, defeating the host school for the title, and ending the Huskies 8-game win streak. St. Joe came close again. In the finals of the Visitation Holiday Festival, the Angels lost to their nemesis the Red Knights of Incarnate Word. The Ladue boys fell in the semifinals of the MICDS tourney to Duchesne of St. …

St. Joe Has a Ball With Ladue Before the Fall Ball

Field hockey team posts a 4-1 win over the visiting Rams.

St. Joseph’s Academy had their annual Fall Ball Friday night. That meant those going to the dance from the field hockey team had scant little time to do their hair, makeup, throw down some dinner and get ready. That would include 19 of the 20 players on the team. The dance was for juniors and seniors only. Just one sophomore is on the varsity squad. The Angels made quick work of visiting Ladue, scoring three times in the first half, and winning 4-1. That made up for last year’s home loss to the Rams, 4-3. The first-half goals came from Marigace Ragsdale, Olivia Sauer and Claire Sauer. They are sisters. Ladue got its solo tally from Elise Pellett and Claire Sauer notched her second goal late in the contest. Sophia Sansone recorded to …
