As the 2013 Senior PGA Championship officially gets underway Thursday, here's what you need to know if you live nearby or plan to attend the event at Bellerive Country Club.
As previously reported by Patch, the Senior PGA Championship takes place at Bellerive Country Club in Town and Country May 21 - 26. (Check here for event schedule and hours.) The first round of the competition gets underway Thursday. Ladue Road is closed from Mason Road to Highway 141 during the tournament. Spectator parking is based at the Verizon Amphitheater and shuttled to the course. Here's what not to bring: • Personal electronics such as, hand-held games, radios, televisions, iPods, iPads, etc. • All oversized chairs with wide arm rests (small, portable/folding chairs are permitted). • Bags larger than 12” x 12” x 12” in their natural state. • Weapons of any kind (regardless of permit). • Coolers, ladders, milk crates, signs, …

Here's what you need to know if you plan to attend this week's Senior PGA Championship in West County. KSDK reports spectators will need more than just their ticket to come and go as they please.
According to KSDK.com, once you've entered the Senior PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club and your ticket is scanned, you will not be able to use your ticket again to enter the event. If you plan to leave and then return to Bellerive, you must get a security stamp on your hand at one of the spectator entrance gates and you will only be able to return if you have that hand stamp and your original ticket, KSDK reports. Guests are also being asked to display their ticket in plain view at all times, according to the KSDK report. Law enforcement officers are cracking down on unbelted drivers May 20-June 2 for an aggressive national “Click It or Ticket” campaign. Even with all the advancements in automobile safety and education on the importance of seat belt use, Missouri’s seat belt use remains relatively unchanged at 79 percent, and consistently below the national average of 86 percent. The Missouri Department of Transportation reports its St. Louis work zones for May 16-22.
The Senior PGA golf tournament comes to St. Louis and it will include road closures beginning next week. Route AB (Ladue Road) will be closed between Route 141 and Mason Road from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily from Tuesday, May 21 through Sunday, May 26. Mason Road will also be closed during these same hours and days from West Wailing to Ladue Road. The Missouri Department of Transportation will have lane closures on a few interstates this weekend. Two lanes will be closed on southbound I-170 at Route 180 (St. Charles Rock Road) at 9 p.m. Friday, May 17 to perform preventative maintenance on the I-170 bridge over Route 180. Local and celebrity chefs, including Pat and Gina Neely, Cat Cora and Andrew Zimmern, will be part of the Senior PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club later this month, KSDK reports. According to KSDK, the chefs can be found in the KitchenAid Fairway Club during the 74th Senior PGA Championship. Ryan Fogle, the U.S. diplomat being detained in Russia, attended Mary Institute Country Day School, KTRS reports. He's reportedly accused of being an undercover CIA agent.
According to KTRS, Ryan C. Fogle is a U.S. diplomat from the U.S. Embassy in Moscow who attended Mary Institute Country Day School and graduated in 2002. Fogle was detained in Russia during the overnight hours from Monday to Tuesday. The KTRS report states that Fogle is accused of being an undercover Central Intelligence Agency officer attempting to recruit a member of the Russian intelligence services. Fogle was released to U.S. diplomats, Russia's Federal Security Service reported, according to KTRS. (Read the complete KTRS report and see photos here.)
