Creve Coeur Park Treetop Course Approved by St. Louis County Council

New treetop adventure course will be built in Creve Coeur Park by a company called Go Ape!, a Maryland-based company that has created similar parks in Indiana, Virginia and Maryland.

St. Louis County Council members approved a controversial treetop adventure course in Creve Coeur Park Tuesday night.  That's according to the Twitter accounts of St. Louis Post-Dispatch's reporter Steve Giegerich and KMOX reporter Allison Blood.  Many St. Louis-area residents were unhappy about the proposed zip-line-based course and made a last-ditch attempt to stop the project by organizing opposition during Tuesday's county council meeting. The park will open in May and be built by a company called Go Ape!, a Maryland-based company that has created similar parks in Indiana, Virginia and Maryland.  - - -  Read also: Residents React to Zip-Line Course at Creve Coeur Park - - -  According to Blood's Twitter feed, the project passed on five…

Please correct your article. Maryland Heights Residents for Responsible Growth did NOT speak out against the adventure course. We urged residents to go to the County Council meeting and ask questions. That is what public hearings are for and it was the only one we were going to get. MHRRG has absolutely no opinion about whether the course should be built in Creve Coeur Park or not.   more ›

Birders Warn Proposed Treetop Course Threatens St. Louis Habitat, Bird Species

St. Louis bird enthusiasts and conservationists plead with St. Louis County Council members to reject a treetop adventure course proposed for Creve Coeur Park, which originally was targeted to go in Greensfelder Park in Wildwood.

A spokesperson from the St. Louis Audubon Society was critical of a plan revealed on Tuesday to move the location of a proposed "treetop adventure park" from Greensfelder Park in Wildwood, to a more urban setting of the county, Creve Coeur Park. St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley offered the plan at Tuesday's county council meeting after the original plan at Greensfelder Park was pushed back by resistance from equestrians and other opponents. The local Audubon Society's Jean Favara told council members the intrusion of a treetop park, which would include a ropes course and zip lines, would threaten the fragile wildlife and bird habitat being restored there. The treetop adventure park is proposed by a company called "GoApe!" "Creve …

Treetop Park with Ropes, Zip Lines May Be Coming to Creve Coeur Park

Go Ape!, an out-of-state treetop adventure course company, now wants to build an area course in Creve Coeur Park instead of the original targeted locale, Greensfelder Park in Wildwood. A request was on the St. Louis County Council agenda Tuesday night.

A new treetop adventure course may be built in Creve Coeur Park instead of Greensfelder Park in Wildwood. The change in county venue followed a storm of opposition to the course in Wildwood, particularly from equestrians who frequently use and board horses at Greensfelder. Go Ape! co-owner Chris Swallow confirmed with Patch on Monday he and St. Louis County Parks staffers currently were seeking approval to operate a treetop adventure course in Creve Coeur Park. Go Ape! oversees treetop courses in Maryland, Virginia and Indiana, and actually spawned from courses in Great Britain. Treetop parks basically consist of an obstacle course of ropes, zip lines, swinging bridges and platforms built around trees. "We are excited about the opportunity…
