Kissing Up For A Valentine's Day Deal

Buy an entree, get another for nothing—if you kiss someone in line.

Customers at the Qdoba restaurant in Creve Coeur can get free food on Tuesday, if they don't mind a little public display of affection. The nationwide chain is bringing back a Valentine's Day promotion that, according to spokeswoman Ashley Cohen, tens of thousands of customers took advantage of in 2011. Anyone who buys an entree can get another for free—once they kiss a fellow customer at the cash register. It doesn't matter (to Qdoba) who it is. No coupon is necessary. The promotion is happening nationwide, though in Wisconsin, inexplicably, the second entree is 50 percent off, not free. There are two Qdoba locations in Creve Coeur. One is in Bellerive Plaza, the other is in Creve Coeur Plaza on New Ballas Road.

Johnson, a Catholic school music educator and an adjunct professor at Lindenwood University performs throughout the Midwest with the groups Fantasy, Wild, Cool and Swinging and The Charlie B Group. The overflow crowd for the free jazz concert at St.Timohty's on Mason Road on Saturday night caught church officials by surprise, as they ran out of programs after handing out 200. Vocalist Christi John Bye wowed the crowd throughout the evening, as did saxophonist Larry Johnson on the classic jazz standard, "Cherokee." The jazz quartet of Two Times True, featuring Carolbeth True on piano, David …   more ›
