Clayton Pfeiffer, 18, died Tuesday following a Chesterfield car accident.
Vianney High School announced late Wednesday that it would host a funeral mass Saturday for Clayton Pfeiffer, a 2011 graduate of the school who died Tuesday in a car accident in Chesterfield on Olive Blvd. near Creve Coeur Mill Road. Police say Pfeiffer's vehicle was struck head on by a car which crossed the center line. (Read Previous: Authorities Identify Crash Victim As Missouri Baptist Student) Visitation will be held Friday at Kutis Funeral Home in Affton from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Vianney.

Clay Pfeiffer was a freshman on the Creve Coeur University's baseball team.
Vianney High School announced on its website Tuesday that Clay Pfeiffer, a 2011 graduate of the school who was a freshman at Missouri Baptist University in Creve Coeur, died Tuesday in a car accident. Missouri Baptist officials were not available for comment Tuesday evening. Pfeiffer was an infielder on the school's baseball team. As word spread through the campus community, students in a variety of sports took to their twitter accounts pledging to dedicate their seasons to Pfieffer's memory. Spartans head to Vianney Friday after a tough day at the dome last weekend.
Two teams coming off tough losses last week in which offense was at a premium, with both teams in search of their first Metro Catholic Conference win, De Smet (2-1, 0-1) and Vianney (1-2, 0-1) have similarities entering this week’s contest Friday at Vianney at 7 p.m. The differences the teams do share are more striking. De Smet uses a balanced attack of passing and running, while the Golden Griffins prefer to give the ball to sophomore running back Markel Smith, who has 463 yards this season. “We have always been balanced in our approach,” De Smet coach Pat Mahoney said. “We read coverages, therefore the ball is spread according to what the defense gives us. Our running backs are similar so we try to keep them fresh.” The balance starts …
