Parkway Candidates Explain What They Would Do If Elected

Prepare yourself for the April 2 election by reading Patch's rundowns on each of the candidates, including their answers to your questions.

With the April 2 election day drawing near, Patch wants to make sure voters are able to make informed choices about the candidates vying for a seat on the Parkway School Board by providing their answers to a questionnaire sent out earlier this month.  Eight candidates are running for one of two "at-large" spots on the Parkway School District Board of Education. Click the links below to see their responses along with some basic information on their background and reasons for running.  Editor's Note: The candidates received an identical questionnaire via email and were each given the same amount of time to reply. They are listed below in the order in which they filed.

Monarch Board Candidate Cunningham Speaks Against Public Education Officer Search

Former State Senator Jane Cunningham shared her reasonings against a public education officer position at the Monarch Fire Protection District board meeting Thursday.

Former State Senator and Monarch Fire Board Candidate Jane Cunningham spoke out against the hiring of a public education officer at Monarch's Fire Board meeting Feb. 7. Cunningham, running against former State Representative Cole McNary for current Fire Board President Kim Evans's seat in the election this April, shared her thoughts during public comments. With Monarch on the search for a public education officer, Cunningham said she did not see the advantage of the extra cost for the position when "school populations are not increasing and there is not any huge demand." Cunningham suggested the position did not require a career as a firefighter or paramedic, but added that a retired firefighter "might love to come back in" and take the …

Meet The Candidates: Dr. Ken Eigenberg & Diane Finnestead

The pair are among eight candidates in search of two seats on the Parkway School District Board of Education in April.

The following information was provided by the Parkway School District and is available on each of the eight school board candidates on the district's website. Dr. Ken Eigenberg A resident of Parkway for thirty years, Dr. Ken Eigenberg is well versed in educational issues concerning our community.  His goals for board service include: insuring the district allocates funds in congruence with stated goals, improving student achievement while maintaining fiscal accountability, ensuring curriculum and instruction accommodate all students, supporting staff, and leveraging teaching through instructional technology. After receiving a Ph.D. from Caltech, Ken was employed as a research scientist. He now focuses on parenting and community service, …

Patch will share two candidate profiles a day this week between through Thursday   Brad Williams Brad Williams and his wife Andrea are proud parents of two current Parkway students. Brad currently serves on the Government Relations Committee at River Bend Elementary and works for the University of Missouri – St. Louis, where he also received his Baccalaureate with Honors in History. Andrea is an Alum of the Parkway District and St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Monarch Fire Board Race Down To Two Former State Lawmakers

Former State Senator Jane Cunningham and State Representative Cole McNary are running for the lone seat open in April's election for the fire protection district.

A race for the Monarch Fire Protection District Board of Directors that was four candidates deep after a pair of surprising late entries prior to the January 15 deadline, is now down to two after a pair of candidates, including the lone incumbent, dropped out. The district confirmed late last week that Kim Evans, the board's current chairman, and Russell Lake, have removed their names from consideration for the April 2 election to the three person panel. That leaves former State Senator Jane Cunningham and former State Representative Cole McNary to compete for Evans' seat.
