Fraser Requests State Senate Election Recount

Lamping's percentage points margin was Missouri's closest election in November's general election.

Saying that "voters deserve to know that the count is correct," Democratic State Senate candidate Barbara Fraser confirmed that she has asked for a recount in her  narrow loss to Republican John Lamping for Missouri's 24th District. Lamping, the Republican candidate who won by a margin of 133 votes, declined comment other than to say "It'll just happen." Missouri law does not permit a recount until after election results have been certified, said Laura Egerdal, a spokeswoman with the Missouri Secretary of State's Office. Results were certified Nov. 30. ‪A bipartisan team of pollworkers will perform the recount in St. Louis County. Those results will again be checked by the state elections office.
