A 74 year-old Crystal City man was struck by a vehicle February 7 and died Wednesday.
Creve Coeur Police have identified the man who died Wednesday from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle near a Mercy Hospital parking garage last week. Eifert, 74, of Crystal City, MO was crossing in front of the hospital's Surgery Center entrance when he was struck by a car February 7. A Mercy statement indicated the driver was coming out of a parking garage. Police said Eifert was not a hospital employee and that the driver was interviewed at the scene and later released. A construction crane tipped over during a project at Mercy Hospital's campus in Creve Coeur around noon today. A McCarthy Construction Company crane was in use as crews are in the process of updating the hospital's air conditioning system. The crane tipped around noon as it was being repositioned. Update 4:37 p.m. A Mercy official on site earlier Thursday told Patch one person was injured. A spokeswoman told Patch late Thursday afternoon that two people suffered what were termed as minor injuries. It happened near the Muckerman Road entrance to the hospital.
