Monsanto Shareholders Meeting Subject Of Protest

Activists sought approval of a resolution dealing with Genetically Modified Foods.

Shareholders for Monsanto gathered on the campus of the Creve Coeur agri-giant's world headquarters Tuesday to elect members of the company's Board of Directors. They also voted down a proposal by a minority shareholder which would have studied "material financial risks or operational impacts associated with its chemical products and genetically modified organisms," (GMO) according to a press release from backers of the plan. Approximately 30 demonstrators, including some from the "Occupy St. Louis" Movement spent several hours Tuesday afternoon holding signs and banners along Olive Boulevard.
