Creve Coeur Man Thinks Kidnapping, Robbery Was Inside Job

Manchester's Uncle Bill's restaurant owner talks to 'Patch' about being being kidnapped and robbed this week. He believes someone knew his routine, but is just thankful he wasn't harmed.

Richard Lee, 75, of Creve Coeur has owned both the Manchester Road and Kingshighway locations of Uncle Bill's Pancake House for 25 years, along with his bother-in-law and business partner William Choi. He tells Patch he never could have imagined what happened Sunday evening when he was kidnapped and robbed in broad daylight. As previously reported, Lee was attacked, abducted and forced from the Manchester restaurant while the business was open with employees and patrons inside the building. "Hard to believe in daytime, in Manchester. It's West County. I'm surprised even now," Lee tells Patch. "Thank God we are OK." Lee believes the heist was an inside job. Report: Creve Coeur Man Kidnapped, Robbed Sunday in Manchester

Manchester police tell 'Patch' the owner of Uncle Bill's Pancake House was kidnapped and robbed while the restaurant was open for business. The assailants are still on the loose.

The owner of Uncle Bill's Pancake House on Manchester Road had just emptied the safe at the restaurant when authorities said he was kidnapped and robbed around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The crime happened in the restaurant while it was open for business with other employees and patrons in the building. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the owner's name is Richard Lee, of Creve Coeur. At this time, the restaurant is not commenting on the incident. "The victim was approached in the rear hallway at the back of the business," Manchester Police Captain Charles Hunn tells Town and Country - Manchester Patch.
