St. Louis County Police are reminding residents to be on alert as authorities continues to investigate two rapes. One occurred each summer for the last two years.
St. Louis County Police are asking residents to be on alert and report any suspicious behavior as summer months approach and two St. Louis County rapes from two previous summers remain unsolved. As previously reported by Patch, the rapes are believed to be connected and authorities think a serial rapist may be on the loose. The most recent case happened across the street from Parkway North High School last year, at Bennington Road and Fee Fee Road which is between Maryland Heights and Creve Coeur. The St. Louis County Police Highway Safety Unit and officers from the Division of Patrol will be conducting the checkpoints.
The St. Louis County Police Highway Safety Unit and officers from the Division of Patrol will be conducting sobriety checkpoints throughout the month of May, according to a news release from the St. Louis County Police Department. Specially trained officers will be checking motorists in an effort to reduce the number of intoxicated drivers on our streets and highways. Inconvenience to motorists will be minimal. The officers participating in the enforcement have had additional training in the recognition of motorists who have had too much to drink or are under the influence of illegal drugs. Kickoff to the St. Louis County Library summer programs begins Monday so now is the time for Creve Coeur residents to register.
Information was provided by the St. Louis County Library. St. Louis County Library’s (SLCL) popular summer reading clubs will kick-off early this year starting May 13 and running through August 3. Summer reading club program guides are available at all SLCL locations. The Thornhill Branch near Creve Coeur is a SLCL library. The library offers clubs for all ages: babies, kids, teens and adults, with fun programs and great prizes for each age group. Participation is free, and as an added incentive, preschool children through those entering 12th grade will have their fines waived when they sign up for a summer reading club (some restrictions apply). Police said Joseph T. Maddock taught at several schools in St. Louis County since 2001. He's now being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student.
A teacher is being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student during a home school session in Lake Saint Louis. Joseph T. Maddock, who also worked for a number of West St. Louis County school districts, was charged Monday in St. Charles County with first-degree statutory sodomy. Lake Saint Louis Police said Maddock, 34, of the first block of Cedar Bluff in Lake Saint Louis, met the boy and his parents while he was teaching at another school. Police reported he convinced the boy’s parents to teach the boy in a home-school environment. Maddock had been teaching at the boy’s Lake Saint Louis home five days a week during the school year.
