Hello, and welcome to my blog! I'm Jack Terschluse and a junior in high school. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, traveling, reading, and well, now, blogging. For sports, I swim for my high school. I also write and edit for my school's newspaper.

I first was introduced to the Patch by its editor, Gregg Palermo, who asked me to become a blogger after my story appeared on this very website. You can find the story here. As you may know, I'm type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed at age 11, and it is a very challenging disease. It never stops complicating my life, and I always try to be one step ahead of it.

What I hope to accomplish with this blog is to bring a teenager's perspective to current events in the area and around the world. I also will be attending the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Children's Congress 2011, where I will represent Missouri. Me and 150 other type 1 diabetic children from across the nation will convene on Capitol Hill to ask Congress how they can help us find a cure for type 1 diabetes. I hope to blog about my experiences there.

I hope you enjoy my blog. You can contact me at jack.terschluse@gmail.com. Also, you can follow me on Twitter at @JackTerschluse.
