CREVE COEUR ANNOUNCES CELEBRATION OF ITS EPA “GREEN POWER COMMUNITY” DESIGNATION
St. Louis, MO (June 14, 2013) - The city of Creve Coeur, Missouri is excited to announce the celebration of its completion of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Green Power Community (GPC) Challenge. The Challenge is a community effort involving partnerships between the City, Microgrid Solar, and Ameren Missouri’s Pure Power Program. The city obtained GPC status by successfully meeting the EPA’s target goal of switching 3% of their energy use to clean power sources through the installation of solar electric systems and the enrollment in Ameren’s Renewable Energy Purchase program, Pure Power. Stated by Rick Hunter, Microgrid Solar Founder and CEO, "As the 2nd Green Power Community in Missouri, we commend Creve Coeur for its values of environmental consciousness, and applaud the example this great community has set to help ensure a cleaner environment for us all."
The focus of the Creve Coeur GPC was to educate and encourage support of sources of renewable energy and to reduce the city’s carbon footprint. After a concentrated year-long effort on the part of the city, businesses and residents, the community is now invited to come together to celebrate the achievement of this prestigious designation. The celebration will be held on Tuesday, June 25th, from 5pm - 7pm at the Millenium Park “Tappmeyer House”. At the event, the EPA will present the city with the award, as well as street signs for placement around the city to acknowledge this status. Attendees can expect eco-friendly demonstrations, family fun and food for all ages.
